Rail flows in the blood of the Lower North Island
Rail is in the life blood of this part of New Zealand. Tracks join the main towns and cities, but many communities don't have passenger trains or have trains that don't stop. Those that do are infrequent and unaffordable for many.
Capital Connection
One of NZ's few interregional trains will get new tri-mode rolling stock, allowing for better frequency and faster speeds. In the meantime, station upgrades and service improvements are needed in advance of the new trains.
